Rapper Liberty Mike “YBK” Mhlanga Passes

Singer Gigi Lamayne has announced that her boyfriend, Liberty Mike “YBK” Mhlanga, has passed away.

Lamayne shared a picture of the family’s official announcement of his death via Instagram on Tuesday, 15 August, with a caption saying: “Forever you, my babe. Forever us. @ybkvision,”

“We had our whole lives ahead of us. I’m in pain. Liberty. We were so close to writing this story. Your last post … could you feel it somehow? We were Grown and ready. Why God? Mina Angsazi. Let your will be done [sic],” the singer added.

While no cause of death was given, Mhlanga was only 30 years old at the time of his passing and seemingly had an illustrious career ahead of him as both a musician and the manager of Lamayne’s music career.

Mhlanga first surfaced on Mzansi’s radar when he appeared on the defunct lifestyle show “Vuzu Rich Kids”, which was South Africa’s response to the popular American television shows, “MTV Cribs” and “Pimp My Ride”.

While the couple only went public a few weeks ago, it appeared they were already working towards a future together.

“Our plans were to start a church. Through our past experiences, teach people about God. We had given our lives to God, and denounced the world. You had big plans [sic],” Lamayne said in an Instagram story on the day of the sad announcement.
